Kenley nakao

Kenley began his passion for music education and trumpet performance at 12 years old on the island of Maui, Hawaii. He pursued his collegiate education at the University of Northern Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Music Education in 2019. Kenley also obtained a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance at the University of Redlands in 2021. He is grateful for having the opportunity to study under Dr. David Scott, Philip Hembree, Dr. Mark Montemayor, Dr. Nancy Glen, Dr. John Adler, and Mark Israel.

Some of his music career highlights include serving as Assistant Principal Trumpet in the inaugural performance of the Maui Chamber Orchestra in 2014, being the Graduate Teaching Assistant/Coach for the University of Redlands Trumpet Studio, and placing as Semi-Finalists at the National Trumpet Competition from 2019-2021. He also performed as a Guest Sectional Trumpet in the Summit Brass at the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute in 2022. In addition to performing, Kenley serves as the Virtual Music Instructor and Music Curriculum Writer for Springs Charter Schools.

Outside of music, Kenley enjoys hiking, adventuring, spending time with family and loved ones, and cultivating meaningful relationships with others.
